Introduction to Early Spring Bouquet
The floral arrangement we chose for the Early Spring Course is Lone Star Living’s February Bouquet with Pink Hydrangeas, Petite Orange Roses, Lavender Daisies, Orange and Orange/Yellow Alstroemerias.
All Lone Star Living Bouquets, including this February floral recipe are sold at the HEB Grocery Stores in Texas ( We chose HEB because that is where Jill lives). If you do not live in Texas, please feel free to use one of our reference photos, or look around your grocery or florist to get similar colored fresh flowers. Consider using whatever flowers make you happy and putting them in your own favorite vase for your live still life reference.
Here are a few different photos for you to print and use as a reference when you paint. Printing an 8” x10” photo at Walgreens or Walmart is a less pricey option- to printing from your computer.
Here are a few different photos for you to print and use as a reference when you paint. I always suggest printing an 8” x10” photo at Walgreens or Walmart is a less pricey option than printing from your computer.
Both Annie and I highly recommend the use of quality, professional paints in our classes and we use Golden Acrylic paints. You are welcome to use whatever acrylic paints you might have on hand, but for the best results we suggest the Golden brand. The Modern Theory Heavy Body Acrylic Paint Set is the best value to get started. It comes with a handy poster that tells you how to mix the eight colors to keep a myriad of hues for painting.
It's actually a lot of fun and a really good idea to simply practice mixing the colors on the poster; it will give you real a head start in class!
If you choose to do a little practicing before you begin painting-Annie and I both have made a color mixing video to grow your mixing skill set and added them to "My Favorite Things" section in this course. We hope they inspire and encourage you to practice: mine is called "Color Mixing"and Annie's valuable color mixing video is called "Touch of Green".
